Missa etcetera on December 15 and 22 features a beautiful, new Christmas CD: ‘O Jesulein… A German Baroque Christmas Oratorio’ by the ensemble Clematis led by Stéphanie de Failly.
This CD presents an imaginary Christmas Oratorio, consisting of works by German composers from the 17th century. Many of these works have never been published before and come from the great Düben collection of Uppsala University Library.
The pieces are arranged to tell the Christmas story from the bible and the parts played in that story by Mary, Joseph, the angels, the shepherds and the Three Kings. The story also includes Archangel Gabriel’s announcement to Mary.
The CD ‘O Jesulein’ contains works by Andreas Hammerschmidt, Wolfgang Carl Briegel, Christian Flor, Christoph Bernhard, Heinrich Schütz, Franz Tunder, David Pohle, and Thomas Selle.
