Murder Ballads.
In dit Thema-programma ruime aandacht voor de TBS-er onder de liedjes: de murder ballad. Deze muziekvorm kent een lange voorgeschiedenis die zelfs teruggaat tot de zestiende eeuw. Maar dit programma wil vooral murder ballads uit de twintigste eeuw laten horen. Uitgangspunt is een selectie van de anthologie ‘People take warning! – Murder ballads & Disaster songs (1913 – 1938)’. En daarna schieten we diagonaal door de rest van de vorige eeuw en belanden via Kurt Weil, The Soggy Bottom Boys, Tom Waits, Krang, Hüsker Dü en Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy bij de hedendaagse koning van de murder ballad: Nick Cave.
