Traditional Traditional classical Arabic music in maqām Sabâ.
In this episode of Orient Express we continue with the ““maqāmat””, also modes (sg: maqām / mode) of Arabian classical music (previous episodes can be found here, here , here , here and here. This episode is dedicated to the musical mode Sabâ. This Middle-Eastern maqām or mode is known as the most temperate and dramatic mode and is usually used to express a feeling of sadness or melancholy. In this episode we will listen to pieces from Egypt, Lebanon and Syria in particular.
