Stabat Mater and In Deine Hand

wed 6 apr 2022
Theme: Early Music

In Concertzender Live on Friday 8th April we’re playing recordings of recent early music concerts from the beginning of 2022: ‘Stabat Mater’ by the Nieuw Amsterdams Jeugdkoor and ‘In deine Hände’ by Ensemble Hermes.

On Friday 11th March 2022 the Nieuw Amsterdams Jeugdkoor led by Anaïs de la Morandais sang the programme ‘Stabat Mater‘ with as centrepiece the famous ‘Stabat Mater‘ by Pergolesi. This time in an arrangement for soloists and three voice women’s choir, arranged by Malcolm Bruno.
They also sung ‘Immortal Bach‘ by Knut Nystedt (a special setting of Bach’s “Komm, süßer Tod“), and the lovely ‘Magnus Dominus‘ by Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville.

In the concert ‘In deine Hände’ by Ensemble Hermes led by Jeroen Spitteler (27th March 2022 in Utrecht) there are a number of intimate works perfectly suited to the atmosphere of the passion period. Such as the rarely performed “Die sieben Worte Jesu am Kreuz” by Heinrich Schütz, the early German Baroque master the 450th anninversary of whose death will be celebrated this year.
Also included are the “Actus Tragicus” by Johann Sebastian Bach and the motet “Fürchte dich nicht” by his son Johann Christian Bach.

To conclude we’re playing a fragment from a Fabulous Fringe-concert during the 2021 Early Music Festival. The Kairós Ensemble plays among other things the Suite in G Minor by Marin Marais.
