Classic Jazz

Trombonist Kid Ory had in New Orleans al een succesvolle jazzband. In 1922 vormde hij in Californië een orkest waarmee hij de eerste plaatopnamen van een zwarte jazzband in de geschiedenis maakte. Vervolgens ging hij naar Chicago waar hij werkte in bands van Louis Armstrong, King Oliver en Jelly Roll Morton. Met hun bands maakte hij eind 1926 en begin 1927 opnamen die hoogtepunten vormen in de jazzhistorie.
